FAQ's

Whose more Reliable & shows the best Professionalism?

  • Heavy haul loads aren’t like a van or reefer runs — they’re highly visible projects with big clients. A missed appointment with a crane crew or police escort costs thousands per hour.

  • If an owner-op has less structure (no dispatcher, no backup equipment), one breakdown or personal delay can derail the entire job.

What are the Equipment Standards & types of Liability in transporting Cranes?

  • Heavy haul involves specialized trailers (RGNs, lowboys, extendables, multi-axle setups). Not every owner-operator has equipment that meets the exact requirements for certain loads.

  • If their gear isn’t rated correctly or maintained to spec, it puts both the load and the broker/shipper at risk.

  • Liability gets sticky — if there’s damage to a million-dollar crane or transformer, insurers can fight over who’s responsible (driver, broker, or contractor).

  • We operate with certain standards so this never poses a threat to our operations!

Bottom Line - What are you getting?

Owner-operators can be great for flexibility and cost savings, but in heavy haul, the margin for error is razor thin. Unless you have tight agreements, vetting processes, and insurance backstops, relying on them can damage your reputation and expose you to major liability. Getting reliable advise from a pro who's seen and been at the front of Hundreds of crane shipments!

Are Permits & Escorts are always the same?

  • Oversized/overweight loads require state permits, escorts, and routing that change load-to-load... So it always depends on the Dimensions of each Shipment

  • Some owner-operators try to cut corners to save time or money (e.g., running without the right pilot cars, skipping state route approvals).

  • If DOT pulls the truck over and paperwork isn’t correct, the broker and shipper often take the heat alongside the driver.

  • That's the simplest way to explain why a Consultant is necessary for these types of shipments!

Insurance Gaps arent an issue right?

  • Wrong... Many heavy haul jobs require $250k+ cargo coverage — some even $1M for superloads.A lot of owner-ops only carry the minimum $100k cargo.

  • If something goes wrong, you’re exposed unless you’ve double-checked their COI and endorsements.

What're the Biggest Core Issues Faced?

Owner-operators can be less predictable and harder to control, which is risky in a business where one mistake can cost tens of thousands of dollars. That's why we offer every option from Dispatching, Consulting, Brokering, Project Management and 24/7/365 Service! We make sure to take care of all the Brain Damage and Unexpected Issues!
